Those spring compressors I used were great. We compressed the springs in situ on the car.......then cut them with the grinder.....anyone connected with Health and Safety look away. The compressors did a good job of keeping the spring still under these conditions especially considering the added danger.

Oh, the above method of cutting springs is not recommended obviously, it's very dangerous, although the spring can't go anywhere, if it were to decompress whilst grinding, trapping the cutting wheel then things could get nasty........
