I have a 245GL 1988 with Clutch Master & Slave Cylinder problem.
Unfortunately Volvo no longer supply the type of Master Cylinder fitted which is a Lockheed separate unit. The bore of mine is scored, therefore I need a replacement unit. Does anyone know where I can obtain a new or good secondhand one from ? Also does any member know how long this type was fitted to the 240 series ? Any info. would be much appreciated. My e-mail address is: colin.mcnaught1@btopenworld.com Cheers |

I would recommend contacting Steve at Braydon Motor Company in London (sorry I don't have their details but there's a link on www.kalmar-union.com). They recently sourced some parts for my dad's 1973 model 144 so they obviously have the contacts to get classic car parts.

Most motor factors will have one - even Halfords probably. Also, if the reply from your Volvo parts dealer was 'we no longer keep those items' it doesn't necessarily mean Volvo don't do them, just that your dealer doesn't stock them - he can probably order one if you ask.

By separate unit, you mean the one with its own reservoir, instead of the later ones that shared a reservoir with the brake cylinder and have a rubber supply pipe?
Won't a later one fit, and then just fit the MC reservoir that has an outlet for the clutch tube? |

Re: My 245GL - Clutch Hydraulics :
Thanks for all the replies. I tried 3 Volvo Main Dealers who all confirmed that Volvo cannot supply the Master Cylinder any longer, only the Slave Cylinder. I telephoned around the motor factors, Halfords etc. and the prices varied between £90 and £170 ! but as suggested by Pyaap I tried Braydon Motor Co. who had the items in stock and are winging their way to me at the lowest quoted price minus discount ! brilliant. Thanks again. |
