Default +20bhp or is it rubbish

There's an auction on ebay advertising "+20BHP MOD VOLVO 240 340 440 460 740 C70 S90 V70 V90", they reckon it's a resistor that goes somewhere between one of the sensors and the ECU to give you extra performance.

I didn't actually know my 1991 240 had an ECU I thought that sort of kit only came on more modern computer filled cars.

Is it a load of rubbish ? I'd imagine someone on this forum has come across this sort of thing before ?

Regards

Ben

The claimed figure is UP TO 20bhp.

It fools the ECU via the air flow meter/sensor into thinking it needs to adjust. That's where the gain comes in. It works, it came from the Yank Dragstrips.

The resistor costs about 5p from Maplins.

The Gain will most probably be 1hp...

I think it only works on the bosch lh fuel injection, 5hp would be a better estimation, if you fit it make sure it's removeable cause it mucks the emissions up and lowers mpg, an mbc would probably be a better investment if you've got a turbo.

I had afriend try this on a 440, and the fuel ecocomy was dire! Best off just driving your car a 'little' harder
