No swirl flaps?
Hey
Just a quick one, i have a D5 AWD 2.4 diesel. The car just doesn't have much go at all, i gotta put foot to the floor to get it to rev past 3k where it appears the clutch ( i know its not a clutch ) kicks in to get it out of a junction. A few people say theirs go quite well with this engine but it might be the swirl flaps. I took the cover off my engine and there are no swirl flaps, was there a model of this engine that came without them? Very difficult to google because its saturated with swirl flap problems. Thanks! euro 3 no swirl flaps although there are some crossover cars dependant on when car was manufactured and when it was first registered . try checking with the vin code to find out which engine you have euro 3 or 4 also look for swirl flap servo motor which might have the control arm removed. try to get the codes read to find if you have any underlying issues d5s can be a little slow off the mark but its something you get used to.

Thanks, have you seen that particular engine have any kind of issues where it feels very sluggish on acceleration?
Just need a hint to start going down a diagnostic route. Thanks! |

yes a few have complained about the d5 being slow of the mark but consider that its a big heavy car with awd it never going to a racing car i suppose it might be that you used to a lighter or more powerful petrol car. try to get the car read with vida which will show any codes or faults which may be present. do you have any warning lights red or amber showing on the dash or dim ?

No, no lights, ill see if i can get a vida readout, i have a launch scanner too ill give that a whirl, i was hoping to be able to get some more power out of it with the swirl flap fix but might just be how it is eh.

Engine mounts are stabilised by vacuum so if those are leaking it could be the cause. But we are only guessing.
