Have you spoken to Volvo with regards to the revised egr /cooler they now fit . I believe that it is a well known fault & they are fixing them . Could well save you time & heartache

The usual issue on these VEA engines is that the EGR cooler has become blocked, rather than the valve needing cleaning. Volvo will replace the cooler for free, but maybe not if they think you've been fiddling with the EGR system? For that reason I doubt that anyone has experience of removing these parts.

Default EGR Valve removal and cleaning

It would still be useful to have the details of how to remove the valve as I am on valve 3 from main dealer with all the latest mods and they still only last 30k miles as my third one is now playing up.
