I went in further and removed the dirt from the contacts

It's certainly improved things

If I quickly flash going to the first stop (ie not all the way to high beam) they still tend to stay on. But if I flick the stalk the tiniest amount they seem to go off on their own

Also if I hold it on flash they seem to go off when released

So better than before in that they work in a certain fashion and hopefully enough for the MOT and when using them myself

Thanks for the guide. It came in very useful. And if I need to go back in I know what to do

Well the headlights got through the mot so they're fixed enough

I did order another stalk just in case so when that arrives I'll see if it works better

Now for the retest I just need to replace the lower ball joint, fit a new tyre and a number plate bulb. Oh and a new windscreen which I knew about before the test 🙂
