Default Just bought V70 problem with headlight stalk?

Hi, I bought a 2003 V70 on Monday

If I pull the left stalk towards me the high beam comes on and stays on. If I pull it again they go off

If I pull it further they also stay on until I perform the same manoeuvre

So I can't flash the headlights

I wonder if the stalk is the problem as I often have to press firmly for the left indicator to work

Clean it, it's more or less typical.

I could only find pictures in a german thread, but they speak for itself.
Here: https://www.motor-talk.de/forum/blin...-t5726930.html

Remove the three screws under the steering wheel housing, then the two silver screws. Pull it straight outwards, it is only stuck in. Clean it, and all back together.

Dont pull it all the way, there is a slight stopping point then it will carry on to engaging fully on.

Dont pull it as far, they arent the best for flashing and can easily go into main beam, but basically pull it a little bit. There is also a slight delay which makes it worse.
Its just one if the foibles you have to live with, but its not as bad as the digital indicators on vauxhalls and some citroen/peugeot of same era!!

If you turn the light switch to the 0 position it goes into flash mode.

No, it's not. Flashing should work with the lights on or off. As I said, pull it off and clean it, it's ten minutes work...

Your left indicator not working properly all the time is the symptom to work with, not the high beam/flash.

you only need to give it a two finger gentle touch to flash!

Well, in the 0 position you can't lock the main beam on surely - that fooled me when I first drove a 2001 V70 in the dark. The dipped beam is on in the 0 position.

Try it.
