timig belt 'jumped'
Hi,
My mothers s40 -2002 1.8 volvo engine recently suffered a 'premature' belt failure. After putting it into a local 'reputable' garage for repairs she has now waited for 4 weeks. - Record of events (remembering I am a mechanic myself. unfortunately I live some distance away or I would have done repairs myself) 1. garage called out - Timing belt failed on start up. 2. car to garage 3. 2 weeks later car brought into workshop for repairs 4. Cylinder head sent to be repaired + skimmed ??? - Why skimmed ??? 5. 1 week later -Engine put back together 6. several days later, still at garage but can't get it to start - apparent low compression. 7. head removed and sent back to engineers - excuse " they didn't set up the 'variable cam timing' correctly" 8. SINCE WHEN DID THE S40 have variable cam timing ??? 9. awaiting answers 10. Oh yes, the car is still in the garage. Anyone advise on this, JBM |
