Default crank position sensor nightmare

I've just replaced the crank position sensor on my V70 tdi p1 - what a difficult job it is! It screws into the crankcase below the fuel pump and you can just about touch it with one hand. Held in with an 8mm bolt which is very hard to access. I managed to get a 3/8 drive socket onto it after trying various contortions. Then it came to fitting the new one - there's a rubber O ring which has to be compressed against the crankcase to get the bolt to bite. It took me ages trying different combinations of extensions. I finally got onto it and pushed at it enough to secure it. But I never want to do one again. I'm sure it could have been more conveniently located but it's something that would only be changed once. If you think the vacuum pump is difficult, well this is worse. I bet the dealers give it to the apprentice. Regards.
