You're obviously a class sprayer - no wonder your boss let you do it at cost; I don't think he'd want to lose you.

Seriously like the use of the TVR lacquer - if it works the same way as the original TVR factory finishes, it should look spectacular in sunlight

You'll know when the disease sets in fully, you'll be changing every (even slightly) rusty screw, nut and bolt you see -I know, I'm currently driving the guys at FRF crazy!! I think I caught it from Scott - damn his perfectionism

Cheers,

T
thankyou for your comments, i am pleased with progress thus far but its nice that other people like your work too because it tends to be a unbiased opinion. i had a vision when i first saw the car of what it could be when done, and i drew a picture of what i had in my head. i find when doing a car like this where you can change your mind a million times, go back to ure original 'vision' and then you'll stay on track to achieving what you set out to do. many times i have seen projects that are finished and they dont turn out as originally invisaged.
cant wait to drive her, it taken far longer than originally thought, gone too far now to do anything else other than persevere with that image in my head i had at the start of the year when i first saw her.

I think if I had a car that I had put that much time and effort into, there would be two thoughts on mind...
  • Have a large glass case in my lounge that would hold it in a humidity-controlled, dust-free environment
    or
  • Only take it out on quiet, dry days... and then with outriders to avoid any stupid twonk getting near it!
It is a seriously beautiful motor.

You're welcome, Gav,

If nothing else, I try to give an honest opinion.

I wouldn't worry about the length of time it's taking, some of us have been years (on and off) at ours and are still buying parts - I'm one of the worst offenders!
And I do understand the 'vision' thing; it's an arts and crafts thing that not everyone understands - but I certainly see things up in the grey matter, then endeavour to transfer it to something tangible.

Now you can send for the little yellow van and that nice jacket that fastens up the back . . .

Cheers,

T

p.s. Geezer - FRF = FRF Volvo, Swansea. Very heplful lads, and a nice discount on parts for forums members.

I think I'm one of their best customers one way or another - they don't even ask for my name when I ring up now - even if I do drive them crazy!!

itll get used, but one very worthwhile thing i will be doing is to cover the nose and rear arches in armourfend. one motorway blast and the front of my car will look like its been hit with a shotgun coz of stonechips.
woe betide anyone who keys it or reverses into it tho, not looking forward to that day

Ah...I understand now. Pity I'm over here in New Zealand. We need some helpful and understanding Volvo dealers here.

I kind of thought FRF was some detailing site LOL.

Gav.

Thanks for that tip. I've not come across Armourfend before. It would be great if you could put some pictures up with it fitted when you've done,,, just to show how invisible it is (or not).

Malc

I'd found the site... but they don't really give the sort of photos that I'd like to see.

If my funds run to it in a while, I'd like to have my bonnet resprayed to get rid of all the gravel rash and chips and things. It is the area of paintwork that most lets the car down. Heck, if I could afford it, I'd love to have the whole car resprayed! That Armourfend on the leading edge of the bonnet could make it last longer if I find enough money for a resprayed bonnet..
