I wounder how many miles that 850 had on. If it was new like the v90 it might have been closer on the first race?

Quote:
these new models with their 2 lite turbo petrol engines T2 120 bhp T3 150 bhp T4 180 bhp do not compare to the 20 year old S/V40 2 litre turbo low boost 160 bhp and high boost 200 bhp ... How can the T2 ( turbo ) be 15 bhp less than the 20 year old 2 litre non turbo petrol in the S?V40 ? well when you drive one you find it acts like a diesel , plenty of low rpm power but fades away to nothing after 3500 rpm .

I really like the new V90, would love one. It'll be a few years before I can afford one.
Hopefully by then the T8 will be a reasonable proposition, I bet it won't be long before a full electric version is available.

The 850 is a lighter car so not surprised it beat the V90 in a rolling race.
My V70 TDI despite having 140 bhp compared to my D5 XC70 2wd 195bhp was just as quick as the D5. The newer cars are a lot heavier and given the emitions control do far less to the gallon than the old. I would see 47 mpg running locally out of the TDI while the D5 gives me 38/42 dependant on how quickly I need to get there. Paul.? |
