Worth checking to see if you're getting power to them immediately after a cold start of something like below 2°.

Also worth checking your thermostat is working correctly.

They all take an age to warm up. I used to slot a piece of card between the intercooler and rad which helped. Not sure why as coolant isn't flowing through the rad, guess it just blocks some of the cold air from hitting the engine?!

Changed the 'stat not that long ago, and it did help, but the car is still taking longer than usual to heat up.

Gonna change these plugs and see how it goes, but I think I might have a leaky heater matrix again as well.

Currently working up the motivation to pull the bitch apart again and have a look.

Indeed, unlike your typical glow plug, they need to have after-glow capability (GN type) or else they can fail prematurely.

Have a read of the document attached paying particular attention to pages 7 & 8.
