Guys - I may have tracked down a contactless sensor, this would let me rebuild my own throttle body with the newer components.
If I could get hold of it, and follow the instructions as posted by an american Volvo forum I think I might be on a winner. |

Can someone confirm if I need the throttle body to be re-coded even if the original is re-manufactured and re-installed? I'm a little confused on this as the previous posts seem to suggest using a different/new throttle body on the car but I would have thought fixing/reman the original one might negate the need for re-coding?

I used actronics in Essex for mine (http://www.actronics.eu/en/) but they will only deal with trade so the local garage worked with them for me. That was fine for me as the garage were removing and refitting for me anyway but an issue if you want to do it yourself.
I swapped my unit for one they already had and it didn't need recoding but it seems a bit hit and miss as some do need to go to Volvo to be coded afterwards. If you can wait for yours to be remanufactured rather than swapping that's a safer option.

It may be worth asking Volvo,
As my brother in law had one go bad in his car , he tried the contact less one , and was better but not great. He had Volvo supply and fit , then do all the software, for around £300- £350 altogether, with a guarantee . And is as good as new. Was on a 2.4 na car 2000. |
