Default D5 noise/vibration

Does anyone have any tips or recommendations for reducing noise/vibration from the d4/d5 engine? I have read about supposed improvements from oil changes, using premium fuels with higher cetane rating and even changing engine mounts. Any views or experiences? Thanks.

Sorry cannot help, my D5 has no untoward noise or vibration. If yours has the first thing I would be looking at is engine mounts.

Check that the engine cover is on properly (grey or black).

Am I right in thinking there is some sort of vibration damper available?

There is a top engine bracket which acts to steady the engine. If the rubber bushes in that are in poor condition it could give your symptoms.

I thought there was some sort of additional circular damper that could be added to counteract vibration. They use a similar device on helicopter rotor heads, I once did a data analysis exercise on it.

Can you be more specific about the engine to which you're referring?
There's..... I dunno, 15-20 variations.

Whilst waiting for detail on the car etc have you considered the vibration - not really sure how bad it is - suggests there is a more fundamental issue as these engines are normally very well balanced?

Are you sure that you haven’t got a failed, or failing, injector which leads to the an imbalance and subsequently vibration? There are other aspects that could cause this but injector issues are not unknown and an older engine is more liable to have this sort of issue.
