Default Reliable aftermarket rims

Hi guys

Is there such thing as reliable aftermarket rims?
I'm after a set of winters on separate rims, but I can't justify a few thousands for original Volvo ones.
It was easy with the V70 - steel 15" were cheap enough...

There seem to be a lot of aftermarket choice out there and I need some guidance.

Can a grand buy me a set of reasonable winter tyres on budget 18" alloys?
Are the cheaper alloys likely to be made of cheese?
Or is it the design that governs the price?

That sort of questions.

Cheers

Why not just keep and eye out on ebay, there is plenty of 17's and 18's secondhand sets appear on ebay,

I got a set of 17's locally when i wanted to refurb my 18's,

Now have a set of 19's for summer and my original 18's for winter

I do indeed keep Ebay under the radar, but... I have a set of very wobbly 17" Amaltheas on my V70 to remind me of what you might get off Ebay.
Plus I'm planning a trip to France in mid February, so not much time left...

If you can wait, I have a set of Atlantis wheels that I will be selling come April ... need a refurb and powder coat, but they are genuine Volvo alloys.
