Default A few issues?

Hello, I've just come back from a regular 200 mile trip and I've noticed a few things,
Firstly, I noticed that the climate control switches and around the dash panel were extremely hot, is this a common thing?, is there anything to worry about?
Also, it's happened a few times today, the key when I turn the car off is jammed completely inside the barrel and when I finally got the key out the steering lock wasn't going on. When it comes to locking the car I have to do it the old fashioned way by the door lock. Does this mean that the ignition barrel needs replacing?
Any help on these problems would be appreciated
Thanks for looking

Default Hot around heating switches

My car is always hot around the heating switches in winter. It's warm even in summer with air con at full freeze.

I've never had any trouble with these rotatable switches.

Sorry I cannot help on the key issue.

It would help to know what model/year car you have.

Assuming it's an auto, then the shift lever button can get stuck, I stand to be corrected but I believe that if this isn't totally home in "P" or "N" then the ignition key won't come out. There's plenty of threads on it, it needs a thorough clean and a bit of lube with something like GT85 spray grease.
