Default C70 Conv roof removal: help needed

I've got 2x C70 convertibles - one is a donor and I want to swap the roof over with my other one.

Anyone able to give me an idea as to how I go about it - I'm a bit cautious about just tackling it blindly and then being stuck with a roof that won't go back on/up etc

They show how to remove/replace the canvas - I want to swap the whole framework over too.

True but a least the bare frame bits give an insight - trouble is that quite a lot of C70 stuff is a PITA - I'll try to reload my copy of VIDA later today it might throw some light on the problem - for some obscure reason VIDA doesn't have that much C70 specific maintenance re the soft top or for that matter various other areas as so much is of 850 and V70 P1 origin - apparently even the Volvo dealers have problems with C70 cabriolet hood/roof related issues unless they fall under the 850/P1 electrics umbrella.

I just wonder whether there's a "how to" around for a similar hood eg Saab or Audi?

PS...Re the parts your're selling off post donor use - what colour is the interior trim - I've been looking for an undamaged pale grey nearside sun visor for some time...if you've got one going let em know please.

I'm guessing there's an issue with near side sun visors as mine is missing too lol (as is every breakers I've asked)
I'm actually considering changing the whole interior just to make use of the sun visor I do have on the donor - if you have a black near side, I won't need to swap the interiors and you can have the grey one lol

Clearly those in the passenger seat seem to exhibit a lack of coordination or finesse....but I digress and will no doubt be informed of my poor perspective....didn't say who though!!!!

Just had a look on VIDA and there are bolt by bolt instructions for removing and replacing the complete roof mechanism. I cannot print or down load from my copy, so cannot help in letting you have the instructions.

It is quite a complex affair !! First open the roof into the upright position and remove the rear seats, remove the rear side trim panels to gain access to the roof mechanism. Remove the cables that operate the tonneau cover, remove the operating mechanism and remove the roof assembly from the car - this is a two man job. Refit the replacement roof and Then recalibrate and adjust the roof

That is the simple basic version, but as I say quite complicated and I cannot download the info. I can understand why you want to swap the roofs over and would want to do the same if I was in your position, however, I think I would find a specialist to do the calibration before starting the job, just in case they are needed afterwards.

Hopefully it is just a straight swap - but sod's law and all that. Good luck and keep us updated on progress - interesting project.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post:

Remove all the boot trim panels and remove the hood operating module from the drivers side rear inner wing, unplug the wiring loom and release all the securing clips. Feed the loom through to the hood stowage compartment and release all the clips from the wiring loom within the stowage compartment. Tie the wiring loom to the hood and remove complete from the car.

Hi all,

Resurrecting an old thread.

I have a 2001 convertible and the rear window has detached (and the rest of the roof isn't great either).

In a scrapyard near me there is 2005 convertible with a good roof, so I am thinking of doing a switch.

I am aware that there might be complications to do with recalibration, but to get me started can someone help me navigate in VIDA to find the info that ITSV40 mentioned?

Thanks
Steve
