Default V60 sensus connect no sound.

Unfortunately I may have a faulty sensus system in my car! What a way to start volvo ownership I turned the car on and had no sound. I mean all the functions were working but there was no sound from any radio station regardless if its dab, am, fm. Nothing. I pulled up switched it all and when I came back after coffee break it was all fine. Sound came back on. Today again was all fine after I stopped and when I returned to the car sound was gone already. I have not muted accidentally I double checked.

This is really frustrating as otherwise seems alright and is a pleasure to drive apart from start stop heavy traffic as when i apply brakes and come a halt, brake pads make annoying sound. Looks like its gonna end up at volvo less than a week into ownership of the car.

Looks like I must be extremely unlucky to have this kind of fault.

No replies and also volvo garage seemed suprised that I am able to scroll through functions like there's nothing wrong but yet have no sound. It affects parking sensors, voice guidance and obviously media/radio. Looks like I should stick to German car. This is really upsetting

I would look for an intermittent connection to the power amplifier, if it has one.

I believe it has one. It has sensus with premium sound. Would you take it to a volvo specialist for vida check up?

you have to take it back to the dealer and leave it with them to diagnose they should give you a car to use whilst they have yours . Tell them exactly how to reproduce the fault . The car should have had a software update a maximum of 10 days before you picked it up , but this will be their first move no doubt unless they have a service bulletin on that particular fault .

I have called many volvo garages in the 30miles radius and still can't get appointment as I have very limited flexibility because of work. I am aware that probably my only option is to have volvo dealer look at it as I tried independent garage and they refused to even have a look as it is volvo only job according to them. They are probably right.

The dealers are very accomodating usually , they will lend you a car or take to to the railway station or work if it is close by . Yes the only specialist is the dealer now for any make really . Would you take your Ferrari to a non approved dealer ?

Problem update

The car has now been investigated at approved volvo garage. They found no difference after software update. They claim that the IHU module is required and it is all priced at £2544 VAT incl. This is nearly 1/4 of car's value. It's not even a week since I've collected the car. Huge disappointment and the dealer I bought the car from is not cooperative at all. Independent garage. CIVC in Camberley refused to have a look at it and sent me straight to approved volvo dealer.

If you have just purchased a car from a dealer, and have been quoted £2500, to carry out a repair to the car, I would be taking the car back to the dealer you purchased it from and rejecting the car, and getting your money back, if they are refusing to cooperate or have the car fixed.

I would certainly say this car as sold was not fit for purpose, if that is the cost to repair.

That is probably the reason the car is for sale at a non volvo garage they knew of the fault ...
