Welcome along, Sierra. I’d give the transmission a second drain and refill, put some miles in it and see if it improves, does sound like lack of use and a fluid change or two should sort that all being well. Did you ‘sump dump’ on the first fluid change or use Gibbons method or other?

Very envious of your location, I visited the area around 3 years ago on holiday. Yosemite was lovely, the icy and frozen Tioga pass we crossed to get there (we drove from 29 Palms / Joshua Tree area in a day, 350 ish miles?) was less so in a rented RWD Mustang. Started the day in the desert heat, ended it in the mountain snow. California is so varied, love it

Stu B I did a pan drain and used the input to the radiator to remove the additional fluid. I did the second flush this morning the same way I will reply after a couple of days to let everyone know the outcome.
The locals refer to this area as "God's country" we feel that he did some of his best work here. I have been around the world and coast to coast in the states but could not pick a better place to lay my head.

Default 2nd Flush done

I did the second flush this morning and I would say it was an 80% improvement overall. 1-2 is still a little abrupt, however improved. The consensus seems to be three flushes is the magic number so I will drive it around for a few weeks and flush it a third time. I was surprised that the fluid was as dirty as it was after flushing it not more than a month and 500 miles ago. The previous owner did this car no favors but she is in good hands now. I swear I heard a faint purr when I pulled into the driveway.
