Default Rust

Hi all,

Bought a new 2007 volvo 1.6d s40 in jan and have have got the shock of my life, looking into the boot, where the rear wings fold and are sealed wath mastic they are starting to weep rust, also the wheelwell is starting to show rings of rust and pushing the rear plastic trim backwards in the boot reveals what looks like a rusty seam along the back panel, will need to remove the plastic trim to confirm this.

Stopped at the garage yesterday, salesman was just going home and he had a quick look and said they all look like that, but not to worry its galvanised?? if it was galvanised it wouldn't look like this!!.

Very disapointed at the lack of paint in the boot area and shocked at the rust, will be taking this matter up with them tomorrow afternoon, anyone else in a similar situation??

regards,

chris

It may well be the rustproofing wax that's weeping out - it does lok like rust in mine around the wheel well.
