You've got to worry you'll end up with Italian engineering with German design flair rather than the other way round.
Reminds me of the disasterous mid-80's tie-up between Alfa Romeo and Datsun. What we got was a Datsun Cherry (see pic...Mmmmm nice!) with Italian electrics in the Alfa Arna (Alfa Romeo Nissan Autoveicoli). Datsun never had the danglies to release one with the Datsun badge.
