C70 2007 Sat Nav
Hope someone can help,
Problem with Built in Sat Nav, The flip up screen opens on its own when i turn on the ignition, and reads Please insert the disc, ( This i have never had to do in the 10years i have had the car) and now does not work, i had the CEM unit checked ( No Problem ), i now have to turn off the Ignition key twice or the Car Battery goes flat, Just turn off the engine once and remove the Key the Sat Nav screen stays open and a flat battery in the Morning and there is a strange humming sound coming from behind the dash ( and no its not a Bird ). So hence i have to turn the Ignition key off Twice, I have removed the Sat Nav now ( no Problem ) But i have have lost the Radio, CD, Phone Etc, There are five connections in the rear of the Unit, Grey, Black, Green , Blue, Cream, Is it possible to replace some of these to Leave out the Sat Nav but keep all the other functions. Which of these is the Power Source It seems expensive to replace and difficult to find a second hand unit, then to have go to Volvo to have it programmed or something, Cheaper to buy a TOM TOM. Any help or Good advise would be more than Appreciated as this is the only problem i have encountered in 10years and 62,000 mls and still looks as good as day i bought her. A Hopeful 71year old who is getting to old for DIY but objects to Volvo prices for these Car Specific Units. |

Not sure this is going to be much help, but I have a 2008 C70 with built in sat nav. Mine works off a built in hard drive but also has a disc reader in the glove box to enable updating. When I had the car in 2011, it worked just off the hard drive as it had never been updated. I bought an update pack and from memory had 2 discs. The one disc has to be left in the disc reader I assume to validate the update as genuine. I just wonder whether there is any mileage in trying to update yours.
Not much help I know, but the only thing I can think of. Also wondered whether the hard disc drive on yours has packed up, assuming its the same as mine. I've had a few HDDs fail in computers over the years. |

Again, I'm only speculating here but if you have access to VIDA, try looking into the Multimedia Module which is the control module for the nav system rather than the CEM, in case there is anything in there.
