Question V50 boot stays

Hello and thank you for reading this message.

My V50 boot stays are wearing out. They stay up ok if the boot is fully opened but otherwise the boot comes down.

At my most recent service Volvo wanted about £125 for the work which I did not go with. I've looked online and can get OEM struts for £18.50 each. Does anyone know how much original Volvo struts are each? And is there a thread showing how to fit new struts?

Thank you.

£42.98 a piece on this site for the genuine Volvo ones.

Here's videos for doing it on a XC90 and an (old) S40. Both seem to be the same procedure, so I assume the V50 is something similar. All you need is a screwdriver. And maybe a sweeping brush to hold the boot open so you can use both hands on the task.

How did you end up sorting this out?
I was also quoted £120+ for this "repair" by Volvo dealership.
Local independent would charge me £40.
Found struts online for £15.35 a piece here.

Installation looks super easy.
