I’m also on the lower end of the xc90 market.
I’ve had two, the first one was a 100k complete dog, looked good but lots of niggles, bought from a garage- no alarm/no radio/leaking intercooler/ knocking steering/ collapsed front seat.
That lasted a week, the garage refused to repair it so I returned the car.
This one now I bought with 170k 2005 executive very tidy but by the time I changed the gearbox oil it was too late- new gearbox time, luckily I fitted it myself at a mates garage with his guidance & a box off eBay, (£550)
I love these xc90s buy they are trouble at older ages/ higher miles, I’d love to spend 10k on a 200bhp one but mine is a work car/dog car/shooting car/7 seater taxi & my wife has the new car.
As others have said mechanical knowledge is a must or deep pockets.
