Volvo V50 2.0d limp mode after engine swap
Hello,
Let me start by saying I'm new here and after some advice on my Volvo V50 2.0d. So we had a engine failure on my 2006 V50 2.0d, we sourced another engine from a 2008 with the same engine code etc and went ahead and fit this engine, noticing some small differences along the way main been the MAF sensor and sensor plug and air intake box and pipes. We changed these for the newer model version and now we are left with the car not running correctly and a EML on for a maf air flow. Any ideas how we can resolve this the engine is essentially the same. |

The ECU will not match.
The only hope is to get it reprogrammed but even that may be doubtful as even though the engine code maybe the same all the ancillary components will be set up differently.

Apologies, I read it that the car hadn't been running at all.
I'm amazed the ECU wasn't an issue, result. Although the wiring may seem the same it may still be the case that the ECU isn't recognising it. Do you have Dice/vida ? If not you could do with getting the codes read. Oh and congratulations on the job you've done, no easy thing.

The wires on the maf sensors are almost identical in colour we have what i assume two power and two signal cables, the power ones been slightly thicker than the thinner signal cables. Thanks for response. |

If the EML is on and it's in limp mode then it will be totally lacking in any performance.
You say the wiring is "almost" identical so that may be your issue. Hopefully some one here will have a better idea on the wiring side. All the best
