I wonder if they build right hand drive cars in batches, as the production line would normally be biased towards lhd?

I ordered an XC40 Momentum om the 5th of February with an estimated delivery date of the 5th of May.

I've just had a call from the dealer to confirm the hand over day will be the 6th of May.

So I'm quite happy with that.

Having done a lot of consultancy at a large auto manufacturer I can say that in their case LHD & RHD cars came down the line together & all of the parts for the specific cars arrived at the workstation in sequence with the bodyshell.

In fact on the 2 lines they were building 5 different types of car & rolling some 500,000 a year out.

Really interesting to see how it all worked. In fact I even watched my Dad's new car on it's run down the final production stages & into the QA shed.

If anyone ever gets the chance of a visit it's a fascinating how all the part's meet up in the correct place at the correct time.

I had a tour of Mercedes Benz assembly plant in Mainz, Fascinating to see the diffferent bodies going through the paint bays with the paint colour changing as required for each car.

The BMW factory in Chichester where they assemble Rolls Royces also has diffirent models/colours going along the production line.

I do not or ever have owned such a make.

I ordered an XC60 Recharge in Mid June. Was originally told that I would recieve it on 19th September. A bulletin was sent to dealers today from Volvo about a shipping and capacity delay. They cannot confirm when anyone will be getting their XC60 Recharge as they have had to be diverted via road and sea. The dates on the order systems are incorrect. Pretty poor effort by Volvo the fact most of these cars were built at the end of July…

Perhaps Biden has caused a bit of a snag along the Silk Road!

The general issue of shortage/delivery issue is everywhere, however I am disappointed with Volvo with the lack of updates provided. Build slots keep getting pushed back without any update being provided.
