No, I didn't yet. Back then I wanted just to add more oil. I tried too, but when I went to the shop for it, they said they have no time for it that day. That was last week, Tuesday. And today, that bad thing happened.
What do you mean by cooked? Do you think an oil change can fix it? |

I understand. The only problem I had in the last months was a shock when shifting down from 3 to 2. It occurred from time to time, after the box got warmer. You referring to that? To be more specific, for example, that started shortly after the last oil change, sometime in the last winter/spring. This summer I drove about 4500 km in 2 weeks around Europe without any issue. Then it came back, and got somehow worse in the last 3 months.
If an oil change wouldn't do it, do you know of anything else that might fix it? Excluding the full repair, which I know of, and hope to avoid. Last edited by ronell; Jan 30th, 2017 at 18:40. |

Hello. I got a diagnosis done today. I attached the results. Can you have a better idea of what's going on after this?

I think there may be a breakdown in communication as you seem confused about the advice I have tried to give. Either get the oil replaced and hope that's the only problem or look at getting the box repaired or replaced. I think you are looking for another answer, which I personally don't have. All the best.

Hey Bungo, sorry if I offended you, but I am just generally confused about this gearbox. I am very satisfied with your answers, I keep looking for them as you see and also, not sure If I mentioned before but I am not from UK and not native English speaker so I might get some words wrong, either heard or spoken.
That being said, not sure if I mentioned as well before, but since I got the car, 1 year and 4 months ago, it had an error stored, referring to the 2nd gear, some problem, but I don't know which exactly. The car was paid already when I found out about this so nothing to do about it. And now, after this diagnosis it turns out the second gear is blocked. I think is more than just a coincidence. Given this information, and your earlier advice, is it better to just get it disassembled, fix whatever is wrong inside, put it back in and hope for the best? I'm asking this because knowing about that 2nd gear issue, even if I change the oil+filter, the problems could get back? Last edited by ronell; Jan 31st, 2017 at 17:20. |

I'm not offended and realise English isn't your first language.
These are very complicated gearboxes . In the UK there are only a couple of specialists who would attempt to fix them. A new replacement is around £4000, usually more than the car is worth. The other option is to look for a secondhand one from a scrapyard. Given what you say about 2nd gear, I agree, that an oil change may not help.

I am now clear of what I have to do. a new one is out of the question. I can disassemble it at a specialist here, and fix it. It seems it will cost me around 1500 pounds (1500-2000 euros).
About a used one, from scrapyard, as we don't have such gearboxes available on scrapyard here, do you know a website or two from UK where I can look for one and maybe order? |

However, I doubt many would ship abroad, and any problems with it would cause more problems to return it. All in all the cost of a secondhand one + shipping would be around the cost of the repair you can get. I hope the company you have found know what they are doing.
