Dynaudio speakers not wokring - replacement?
Hi everyone!
New to me V50 has dynaudio sound system with dash speaker and rear n/s factory amp. All 4 main door speakers don't work. All plugged in (first check). Amp looks fine and tweeters/centre speaker works. No change in any different stereo settings. I'm thinking of replacing them all for aftermarket speakers. Does anyone know the spec of the speakers to replace with something similar or any suggestions for anything specific? I've looked at replacement dynaudio speakers but theres not many around and I'd rather have new ones if possible for similar money |

4 ohm will work but the volume will be lower (you'll loose 3dB as the impedance is doubled), but you will likely never notice. And they of course have to handle the wattage put out by the amp. All the details are in VIDA....

I'll be speaking to a car audio specialist I think just to work out what my options are. I'm not after anything mind blowing just want to replace with similar spec.
Unfortunately I don't have access to vida and I'm waiting till I definately want to keep the car before buying anything like that. Any Web pages with fill detailed specs? I've tried looking around but there's varying information on forums. Do you know which other models had the same dynaudio setup just in case I can find some second hand ones? Thanks |

I've found a parrot ck3100 + autoleads telemute wired into the harnesses for the amp. Any chance this is linked?

Yes that's almost certainly the problem. Those kits are spliced into the speaker cables coming out of the head unit or amp, and when the kit needs to output audio they switch out the in car amplifier and use their own (crap) internal amp. It's possible a previous owner only ever used the kit for audio output - streaming bluetooth music - so didn't care that the in car system was scuppered.
Yours is either broken or more likely incorrectly wired so that it cannot switch the in car system back in. You'll want to fix that as the Dynaudio systems are very good indeed. As for replacing speakers, take a look at how much Dynaudio kit is in the aftermarket to get some idea of what you need to spend to match the Volvo setup.

Parrot kit is out aaaaannnd nothing. Speakers still not working. All 4 door speakers not working is still odd.
Is this likely amp or the speakers themselves? Tweeters and centre speaker still work fine. Thanks for the help so far. |

I wonder if the Parrot kit has damaged the amp or at least blown an internal fuse in it. Some power amps are not designed for any of the speaker wires to be “earthed” or connected to another speaker wire. An auto electrician should be able to check whether the amp is still working and/or wired correctly. I hope that helps. |

Tweeters and woofers are wired in parallel
If the tweeter works and woofer does not, it's a blown or disconnected woofer. and NOT the amp
