Hi everyone,

First post!
Only had my 05 V50 2.0 D SE for 1 week having just traded in from a V40. Love the car but its only showing 34.7 mpg on the computer.-I reset it when I picked the car up and only been taking it easy on mixed roads. Surely there must be something wrong??It has done 9200 miles.
If mpg doesnt improve we will be heading back to the Volvo Dealer we bought it from!

Sounds like there could be an issue there mate - I have had a s40 2.0d SE for a week now and although its 2 years old I'm getting 48.7mpg at the moment with a daily mixture of M1 and A45

Thanks for the rapid reply!
Will things improve the more miles the car has done?

Not sure on that one mate - I assume so as this has been the case with my previous BMW diesel - but this is my first time with a volvo - most annoying thing I find is the small fuel tank, even when the needle is in the red I can only squeeze £39 in it!!!

Actual average on mine is 42-44mpg depending on how the throttle foot is. The computer readout is currently telling me I'm doing 50mpg though! I find it's always about 5-6mpg over optimistic.

I have no trip on mine, but by calculating on paper how much fuel it takes to fill the tank and how many miles ive done since last fill up, I only get 38-40 MPG. There are others on this forum who suffer the same thing, its been well discussed.

I've had 2 volvo dealers look at it but they cannot find a fault (or rather the computer hasnt generated a fault).

When I first bought it at 6000 miles I was only getting 34 mpg, but now I get 38-40 at 14,000 miles...maybe things will improve, I don't know. I'm stuck with the car for the next 2 years so I'll just hope it improves, and count the days down until I can get rid of it. Wish I'd bought the D5!

High 30s normally for me (prior to the remap) - saw 40mpg once on a long motorway journey.
