General stuff
Took delivery of an ex-demo XC60 R-Design Pro T8 Polestar on Monday and have a couple of questions.
1. If I get a tethered Pod Point or similar charger with 4.5m cable, can I use the one which came with the car as an extension? I like to reverse onto my drive and 4.5m wouldn't be long enough. 2. Is there a problem with the Download Centre at the moment? I've connected the car to my home WiFi and also tried phone tethering. Apps which don't require an update work OK but ones which do direct me to the Download Centre, where I'm advised that I have "No connection to service". I'm looking forward to learning a lot from this forum. |

Reach out to NewMotion. They do very nice looking charge points with an option for 8m cable and you can get it in RAL colours to suit your drive. Very classy.

I think VOC may have had some issues last night/today; I couldn’t get mine remote started this AM and my brother said he had a customer in today also saying some connected car stuff wasn’t working.

I've got a New Motion charging point at home and it comes with a built in long lead that helps with avoiding shunting. Andrew |

I have a pod point and tried using it with a type 2 lead as an extension lead, it did not work.
Personally I wish I had gone chargemaster as they also have a network that is sort of usable around my way, and is growing fast, chargemaster also seem to have some deals to use other makes of charger in public places. Pod Point charger in garage does work fine though.

Only enough over the 7 months I have had my car VOC issues always seem to be worse at the end of the month, maybe just a coincidence.

No issues with VoC. Car starts under remote and does everything else I expect of VoC. My issue is the Download Centre. My car is connected to my home wifi but Download Centre says otherwise, and it's frustrating.

Nicer things tend to cost a bit more. This one is quite neat looking. You can get cheap plastic with someone else - they all do the same thing. You can pay extra for special colour or pick a standard. They also do different power rating chargers if you have the supply. Like I said you can get 8m tethered cable with them too. Sub was not obligatory and I think that functionality is a bit of a gimmick, but I don’t think you can avoid having some sort of communication device if you are to get a grant ad government wants to keep an eye on car charging for when they start taxing it in a few years.

To add to what Deman77 says, I got mine through the lease company and so there's a feature to claim the electricity that I use to charge it at home back, as all the petrol/electricity costs are reimbursable for me, as it's a company car. So that's obviously not helpful if you are a private user. It is connected, so you can go online and see what charging has been done etc. They have tie-ups with other operators and mine came with a charge card that you use to switch it on/off 'contactless payment' style and for use with other charging facilities as mentioned. Lastly, I have the 3-Phase version (I live on an ex-dairy farm) and you can charge from flat in about three and a half hours with that. AWM |
