Need to check that flange splines match. Also speedo drive. Hope to be able to fit it in PV. better gear ratio spacing As far as i have been told the bellhousing from earlier models wouldn't match gearbox mounting holes
My "mechanic says that it would be possible to grind the chipped tooth smooth and that would be OK but I'm not sure.

Established that my spare box doesn't fit. Removed and inspected original. Knackered. Lower reverse cog underneath main one chewed up. needs a complete rebuild but don't expect replacement parts available. Is there any where in UK who would be able to supply parts? Only parts available from VP auto seals and bearings etc. Thankfully I have a replacement lined up from Harry Hermanson in Sweden. As a matter of interest what would i be expected to pay for a used box in UK if i could find a good one?

Compare the joining face for the B16 and later box. I'm not sure if or when the B16 bell housing changed to fit the later box. They probably didn't need to change it until the B18 came. That has the starter on the other side.

This issue has come up when the question of fitting an M41 to the PV with a B16. I think it's been done but needs some mods to the box/bell housing interface.

Will the innards from your spare M40 fit in your B16 one? That's another question.
