Default Software update available - but there isn't one

Every time I start the car (V90CC 2019) I get a message showing software update available. When I go into software updates there is no update (and I have recently updated spotify). The only update I could apply are map updates, for regions I don't use, so have no intention of updating. The map updates have always been available but only recently am I getting the constant update notification on starting the car.

Why is this notification constantly showing up?

In the absence of an app update, I think it normally means there's a map update on the way for the regions you have installed (I only have Western Europe). It might be available on the website now, but in my experience, the map update auto-downloads a few days after the software update notification starts appearing.

A bit messy to be honest. I think after the initial oohs and ahhhs of the Sensus system, it becomes apparent that it generally 'works', but it's just about holding together.

I've had the same thing for weeks, culminating in Spotify going belly up.

When I check the download manager all apps are up to date, as are the maps.

I had this. I deleted Spotify then reinstalled it, and the update message has gone away. How long for, who knows?

Totally agree RE the oohs and aahs of Sensus, mine crashes all the time. Car Play stops working completely needing the car to be stopped locked and unlocked to re-connect, i've also had instances where the whole system (Dash too) has just gone off and rebooted, very disconcerting at night whilst driving.

Also audio stops working just replaced with a hissing on ANY noise, Indicators, Nav Announcements anything.

I'm on my 5th Courtesy car since my MY18 XC90 T8 inscription failed in Jan and is finally being replaced with a new MY20 today!

It's definitely a weak point. There's nothing I find broken as such, just a continual stream of minor glitches. On board apps seem fairly solid, but anything that needs to connect with Volvo's servers seems to go wrong at some point.

Mines in for a software glitch on Monday (right indicator intermittently fails to work) and they'll do a full update then apparently. Let see....

As mentioned above the update notice is most likely for a region Map you do not care about.
I found it best practice to designate your region as "Home Region" an then set Sensus to auto update. If you need an other regional map up to date, just wait for an message that your home region was updated and most likely the other region has an update available also.
App updates are mostly obligatory. So if your App needs an update you will be notified about it when starting the App.
So in essence you can ignore the update available message of the system.

As to Sensus in general. I find it well functioning, intuitive and better than anything else I encountered in cars. But I do not use Car Play etc. but only in car Apps. Yes once in a while an update introduces a bug, but those are generally fixed within a few weeks. And that is not different to any programme on any system I used in the last 20 years.

Hi,

You've answered your own question, yes, it's the map areas other than your home one that are flagging up the software update. I have the same with my car.

The best way of getting rid of it is to download the entire sensus map file onto a 64gb usb memory stick and update your car's entire map library. The message will then disappear until it happens again!

Log in to My Volvo select the appropriate map update and wether for Mac or Windows and download to a 64gb memory (49.25gb download/Europe) USB. After download place USB in car and it will update the maps.
