XC60 B4 AWD diesel emissions

I was very close to ordering an XC60 D4 AWD Momentum. My company car allowance restricts me to 145g/km and the D4 AWD Momentum squeezed under that at 144g/km. I read that the mild hybrid D4 engine was being released as the B4 and assumed that the emissions would be lower. I was hoping that an R Design mild hybrid even with it’s larger tyres would better my 145g/km limit.

The Volvo website now lists the B4 and it says that both the B4 Momentum and B4 R Design have emissions of approx 147g/km. I’m both gutted and surprised that the mild hybrid version has greater emissions.

Can anyone confirm that the emissions for an AWD XC60 are now all north of 145g/km and out of curiosity does anyone know why the figment of a mild hybrid system has worsened the emissions figures.

According to the MY2020 price list, the B4 Momentum AWD Automatic is quoted at 139.

What Car says the same. However the configurator, says approx 147g/km depending on options. “Approx” is also not very useful as the problem I have is that over 145g/km the expenses police in work will stop a £7.2k per annum car allowance which is a chunk of money to risk.

If the government vehicle certification agency, when it lists the car has it at 139g/km then I should be home and dry, but currently its not listed. I’ll use the Volvo price list to get the discussion going with the expenses police, so thanks for that

Not sure where you got your numbers- Volvo France lists XC60 D4 at 129g/km.. Even my (non-AdBlue..) D5 is just below your magic number at 144g/km.. The AdBlue version D5 is 147g/km though.

That's odd.. You'd think that UK should be using a same testing cycle (WLTP) as the rest of Europe..

I've just checked the small print on the price list link and these say that the emissions data is preliminary. I wonder whether the Volvo web site has the more upto date figures. The UK website does say the figures are approx. I did try asking Volvo UK about emissions for the D4 but they just pointed me to the dealer, I expected Volvo UK to be more expert than the sales guy in the local dealer. Still unsure what to rely on.

I have just checked the MY20 price list and the B4 C02 emissions are as follows:-
Momentum 139
Momentum Pro 139
R Design. 139
R Design Pro. 145
Inscription 139
Inscription Pro 142

So it looks as though all models come within your company’s criteria.
