Apologies 4x4

Your crystal clear pics gave suddenly appeared on my screen and clearly there is sufficient room behind the tensioner NOT to require either lug to be shaved off

For the long term I would still weld a length of bar to the body but have to say in my view this is a great idea - otherwise known as the genius of the forum!

No requirement for me to weld a bar on, I used a 19mm extra long reach Snap On XDHFM1719 Zero Offset spanner which works a treat

I've found an alternative one on Amazon which contains cam and crank locking pins, as well as serpentine tensioner release.

How does it look? Opinions...

At twenty five quid gotta be worth a pop - unless he nicked it 4 x 4 will make you wince with the price of his Snap on spanner !!

From the description would appear the cam locking device will actually fit

I bought that kit for £25 off EBay a few months back. The tensioner tool works perfectly, makes an easy job of it.

Already posted a link on page one. Not worth mucking about for the sake of £25.

You'd be surprised how inexpensive you can purchase Snap-on if you are prepared to wait a long time

Yeah but I am 55 this October !!!

Recent gearbox fluid change on Saffy and not having a 24mm spanner for the drain plug made me launch an enquiry with my local snap on chappy

He said I had timed it just right as they are on a deal - 20 to 25mm - £199 + VAT !!!!

Give or take twice the price of of King Dick !

I made an auxiliary belt tensioner tool using a 1/2" to 3/4" adaptor. Only took a few minutes with a grinder to reduce the length of the adaptor to allow a 1/2" bar or ratchet to fit it and still clear the inner wing.

I ordered the kit from amazon two days ago for £25 and it arrived today. I’ll be trying it out in due course.

As an aside, I’ve never changed a timing belt before, and I don’t necessarily think I’ll dive in at the deep end with the twin-cam 850s I have. However I’ll get good use out the serpentine belt tool, as my tensioner is needing replaced.
