What’s your driving position?

Default What’s your driving position?

Coming from a V40 I am use to sitting so that my head is quite inline with the steering wheel.

In my S90 I feel like I am looking down on the steering wheel which seems odd to me, but then the bonnet is one of the biggest I have ever seen so like to be up high to have a good view.

I have adjusted my seating so that I am more eye line to steering wheel, but it just doesn’t feel too right. I am over 6 foot so was wondering whether other people have this issue?

I would have liked the steering wheel to be adjusted higher and closer, but I have it at it’s highest and fully retracted position.

Is this just normal for driving a car that needs a higher seating position?

Tia

I'd say it is normal. In every car I get to drive the driving position is different, in some more in others less.

Then again, i have 194cm head-to-heel and basically in any car I have problems with enough space. I like sitting high because I like seeing the road ahead as much as possible, and in XC60 I can often see over the roof of the car in front of me to the car in front of him, so that's good for me. And I like having my back straight up and my upper legs as horizontal as possible, all of which dictates a high sitting position.

As an example, in the Wrangler I used to own you HAD to sit up, very high and very upright. In Grand Cherokee the sitting poisition was more what you say "normal". In Porsche 944 S2 back in the day I way more horizontal than vertical in the car.

I prefer looking through the top half of the screen - higher seating position.
Unfortunately on test drives, I've found the HUD doesn't always allow for this.

On my V90, you can adjust the HUD height - if you find a car that you like, maybe see if you can adjust it to suit your driving position ?

It took me ages to find my comfortable seat position, I was literally getting a pain in the neck every time I drove the car, eventually I found reclining the back of the seat more and adjusting the steering wheel height and reach did the trick.
It looks to be reclined a little bit too much but it is more comfortable and instrument cluster is all visible. And no more neck ache.

I am 6 foot,2 and a half and love to sit really low in car.

I do have long legs.

I might have been a good high hurdler.

Fairly upright worked best for me in the long run. I sometimes change it to be a little more reclined but only by a degree or two.

Extending seat squab thing completely retracted because it was crippling me.

I like to have my seat position high - I'm 6ft and at this setting I can't fully see the HUD even if I adjust the HUD to it's most extreme position. Really don't get how this got past testing stages.

I'm slightly more reclined and more sat back than I was in my previous car. Being too upright in the R Design seats makes my shoulders ache for some reason.

Exactly the same for me.
I asked if there was some way the projector could be adjusted inside the dash, but the salesman didn't think it was possible.
