Hi,
my 54 plate S60 2.0T has developed the noise towards the front of the car which sounds like a supercharger ,I have changed the clutch pulley on the alternator as I was also getting a chirping sound, I have also changed the aux belt and tensioner , the car only has 59.5K on it. There is no change in sound if I depress the clutch and it doesn't make the sound if I am stationary and revving .My thoughts were it must be a wheel bearing any thoughts.Oh I also get a sound like a click(clock ) when moving off . The car still pulls like a train Last edited by dormouse; May 15th, 2019 at 08:21. |

No it doesn't, i had the thought that the brakes might be binding , i guess i could lightly apply the handbrake and see if it goes . The noise does seem to be getting louder , i was thinking it might be a vacuum hose but i would have thought it would make the noise while revving whilst stationary if it was that

Probably some sort of bearing noise. Both T5 I've owned make a sort of crunching noise when launch off which I presume is the CV joints

Remove the dipstick and give it the beans, see if it gets quiet (would be a pcv)
Other test is to remove the serpentine belt and drive it a few meters or rev it a little. the a/c compressor also gets tired but it usually makes a friction noise

The sound gradually gets worse after about 30mph, I jacked the car up today and I couldn't feel any looseness in the wheel bearings or any roughness.
While stationary the sound doesn't exist with or without the dipstick removed |
