Hello Shadeyman, would you explain us what is your installation? With some pictures?
I understand you have the bluetooth interface connected beneath the steering wheel and your phone on the dashboard? Caro0 Pro combines the mobile phone camera and Google Maps?
I am really interested.

I use the HTC mini car kit(http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/....aspx?i=250962) to hold my phone next to the rear view mirror. As soon as I plug the phone in to it the phone automatically switches to car mode. In this position its doesn't obscure my view and it's easy for me to use the Car Mode, its all voice activated, even reads any new texts to me. Its also a great position for the Caro0 Pro app to use the HD camera on the phone.
If you want the app to link to the engine ECU just pair up the Mini Elm interface with the phone before hand.
There's lots of different settings so it can be configured to suit your own needs. I've got it set to start recording as soon as the car starts moving.

There's a free version of Caro0 Pro(https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...pokevian.skids) if you'd like to try before you buy, I did.

There's a facebook page too: https://www.facebook.com/CarooProDri...rivingRecorder

Yes! I just installed Caro0free and it works well. I already ordered the bluetooth scanner on eBay. How ignorant I was, how much do I learn Reading from you all!
I look forward seeing my error codes when car fails, we have a fuel pump issue on our XC90.
And the extra toy of videorecording seems really nice and useful.
Thanks again.

Does the elm interface give you error codes like vida?

I hope so! Don't have it yet (ordered yesterday, same than Shadeyman's one). It comes with a CD Rom, and says it can clear error codes so it may show them before...
Shadeyman may answer more precisaly.

I've not actually tried it as I have VIDA/DICE.
I brought the Elm interface plus the full versions of OBD Car Doctor(https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...octor&hl=en_GB) and Torque Pro(https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...orque&hl=en_GB) to use on my daughters car but found the Elm interface worked with Caro0 Pro to.

After reading a few threads on here I've been messing with a few things on the car, injectors and EGR so I'm sure there must be a code or two stored. I'll check later(missus out shopping again) and let you know ...

As far as I can tell it monitors the MIL(Malfunction Indicator Lamp) and displays error codes(generic) that have caused the MIL to iluminate. It doesn't have the ability to scan for codes like VIDA/DICE as far as I can tell, just reports major malfunctions.

I'm sure I have at least an EGR related code stored as I've been messing around with it. No MIL and no code displayed ...

It does mention error codes on the website but I can't find anything about clearing them. I guess that can only be done if the MIL is illuminated and the code displayed like in the pic below.

At the end of the day its a £3 Dash Cam app not diagnostic software so anything extra is a bonus IMO.

Ok, just to update my info: received the ELM327 bluetooth scanner and tested with 2 Android applications. With Caro0Pro, you will see some information on your mobile phone but error codes cannot be erased. With "Torque" (3,55$, the free versiσn is useless), I can see the same information and more, look at realtime graphics and actually search and erase error codes!
The bluetooth scanner I bought comes with a CD but I didn't try anything yet (have to copy it on my Android pad first)

there are 2 types of wiring, one is wire to your batt where it continuous suck your batt, the other is wire to your ignition where it will shut off when the engine shuts off. and also, if you are using finevu cr300 or other cameras with powermagic, it basically stops power supply once it detects the batt's voltage drops below a certain limit. if your camera has motion detect functionality, you can also use it so as to not consume that much batt.
