Drivers side Window not working
HI everyone,
First of all thank you so much for this forum, it is always a great help. Well, the drivers side window won't go up or down.It suddenly stopped working. The motor is working but the window is not. I have taken the door trim off and can hear the motor whirring, but the window won't go up or down. I have learned to ask expert advice before I strip the motor out. Can anyone help me with advice/next step please. 2000 s-40 sedan by the way.... Thanks Phil |

IF the motor is working, then that means that the window switch is doing it's job. Either the cable in the mechanism has broken (unlikely as they are a lot stronger that the MBW crappie ones) or the plastic teeth that move a pivot point are badly worn (most probably this). You are better off getting a complete good second hand replacement motor mechanism and just replace it. They sell for around £10 in the UK, so don't think it will cost more than £20-£30 in Australia

I had the very same problem about a year ago.
There was a hell of a bang and the window wouldnt budge. On stripping the door card off I could here the motor working but nothing was moving. Stripped out the motor to find the drive pin had completed sheared (hence the bang). Replacement from scrap yard is still going strong and it was fairly easy to fit. |

s40 window motor replacement
Hi all. I am having the almost same problem. The window on drivers front door in my 04 S40 is going up and down about 1 inch. It will not go up all the way so water leaks in. Its almost all the way but theres a small crack where it wont quite seal. Then it drops about an inch and goes BANG!. Then wont go down any further. When you go back up it stops after about 1 inch right before sealing, hence the water leaking in.
If I find a used one somewhere is there a place on the site I can see how to install it. Like take the broken out and put the new used one in? I have looked around in here, the forums and places but have not been able to find a link or anywhere that helps with installing one.(I am certainly not too i-net savvy though, at all!) Thanks for any, all help!! |

The guide shows how to remove the window and the lock. To remove the actual mechanism, you will have to undo these 7 bolts
