The wiring is most probably not there, so it will have to be retrofitted. You can either get the individual wires that go to the info centre and the speedo, but it might get a bit messy. Ideally, you should get the entire loom that fits on the dashboard, from a donor car that already has the trip computer installed. I would have though that all the wires needed would be there. There might be a wire or two that go to the actual main big loom which is mounted on the cross bar behind the dashboard, but I am not sure if is the case for sure on a Phase 1 car. I have only taken the dashboard and loom behind it apart on P2 models

Alright, why do you think that there is no wiring ready on the P1?

I am not 100% sure about the P1. But I can confirm that I have never ever seen the wiring on P2 cars that came without the trip computer installed in the factory. You might be lucky and the wiring is already there, but I would not hold my breath if I was you. I hope I am wrong though...

Well, your question is a bit different, since you want a newer model of the instrument panel rather than just another version of it. And it doesn't seem as easy - the connectors are completely different. You can compare the pinouts and signals for them, there will probably be a few small differences.

For example one of the things that you may have a problem with is the ECT sensor readings. Older models use use basic analog voltage amplitude modulation, while newer ones use frequency modulation. Sadly I do not know the year when they changed that.

For now I won´t bother with that, seems too much hassle.
I would exchange for one that has trip computer, if it works.
