XC60 T8 2018 Model Pre-Conditioning
Thoughts please
Is there a recommended period of time to let the car pre condition it's self, I guess it is a little weather related etc. garage or not, but cannot find any guidelines on time to set before making a journey. |

Pretty sure I read in the manual somewhere that the time you set, is the time it will be ready for (rather than the time to start). So the car works out how far in advance to start preconditioning to be ready at that time.

Thanks for that, seems logical.
It is when you want to just do quick trips, and think with leaving in something like 20 mins etc. just easier to just start it than mess around setting a timer etc. especially if it is like a 10 min requirement to get it ready. |

The petrol preheater is very efficient, unless youre melting an ice cube car even 10 mins is good, the cabin gets too hot for us!

I assume when you do pre condition the car, it should lead the battery fully charged, as you can only do it when connected to the charger. I did notice today though it stated fully charged, ran pre conditioner for 10 mis of so and when I drove it the charge was around 15% down when started.

Precondition is both warm and cool. Warming, UK models at least, use the petrol heater which has minimal impact on the battery. Plugged or unplugged.
Cooling, which uses the AC system, is electric only, when plugged in that should have minimal impact on the battery. Running parking climate unplugged to cool will reduce range, Im not sure Ive ever tried it though.
