Lloyds volvo in Carlisle quoted me around £550 for 15" steel wheels shod with pirelli winter tyres which I thought no too bad. I decided not to go ahead and just got Avon Ice Touring ST(16") fitted at my local tyre place for £320 all in. This was in mid November before panic buying, inflated prices and supply issues had set in.
I wasn't too sure about the extra wheels when March/april comes the fronts may have worn and I can re fet the rears next year.

Pretty good. Have probably covered 2500m so far. On dry sub zero roads I am fairly confident in the grip although car may feel like it "leans" a bit into the corners but I have not felt in fear of losing traction.
Excellent in the wet.
Starting off on ice maybe not as good as the Quatrac 3 tyres I had last year but I think stopping is better. It's very hard to compare the two when not testing "side to side".
Traction control light is harder to light up.
I think noisier than "standard" summer tyres but not unbearably so.
Got up the hill easily to my parents in powder snow and minus 12 when last year on summers(in the snow) I had no hope.
MPG may have dropped(45 to 43) but that may be to car sitting on locked driveway running to de ice.
On an aside when pulling out from iced up junctions onto a main road I find it Better with the DTSC off.
So all in all satisfied. Would I buy again? Yes but I would also consider what else was available at the time. I really wanted Vredesteins again but none were available.
Our local ex Rover dealer(Robertson Gemini) I see has some Pirelli Sotto Zero 205/55 r16 in stock ad on their website if you are struggling to source a decent winter tyre.

I shall give a quick update having been out this morning on very icy roads. Only minus 1 or 2 but very very slippery even when walking the dog before I set off for work. Went to my first farm call on a back road, the winter tyres performed well, if you gun it or brake hard then traction and grip will be lost but less so than summer tyres. Drive sensibly and these tyres are excellent. Don't know what the council have been up to, no grit even on the priority local school bus route, but these tyres have certainly helped.
