Vida/Dice.... Help!
Hi all,
read through all related posts on here before posting yet another vida/dice thread. Just hope someone can shed some light on this for me. I bought the kit from ebay last week complete with the vida2012a disc in the hope of resetting the srs light on the dash of my 2004 V40 Diesel Sport. The software is firing up great but there seems to be a problem with the dice itself, vida can see when I connect dice and knows when I've disconnected but when I run the test communication tool it throws out an error, telling me the CARB plug connected and LED is OK but has errors on Flash internal/external, PC/BT loopback and the RAM external/internal. So no communication is being made with the car at all. I also noticed the lights on the unit are all blue even the flashing usb status one which the sticker states should be yellow, is this normal. Please someone help!!!! |

Either there is something wrong with the hardware or the firmware. Can you check what version firmware you have? I have personally upgraded to Firmware version 5.6.1 https://www.volvotechinfo.com/siteContent/dicefw561.exe However, don't do this yet, as the seller may blame you for doing so and refuse a return. Contact him fist and see what he has to say. Another question though. What operating system are you using and which version of IE?

I had some issues when I moved from 2011D to 2012B version and upgrading the Firmware sorted everything out. So see what the seller says and if he says it is ok to upgrade the firmware, then go ahead and just do it. Link for it is above.
Let us know how you get on with it.

You can get firmware 5.6.2 from 2012B, I've just upgraded to this firmware last week and someone is kindly giving me 2012D which may have an even newer firmware.
I currently use Win7 Enterprise, IE10 and VIDA 2012B and all works fine for me. |

I'd just like to add that there are a lot of, what I can only describe as, poor quality rip offs of these devices on eBay and I dread reading threads with VIDA/DICE issues on the heading.
Can I ask how much it cost and if you have a photo of it?

All you can do is read the feedback and get one from a more reputable seller, it is worth paying a little more if required and getting a good one than saving a few quid and getting a dud with all the hassle that goes along with it.

Have had a reply from the seller and agrees it is possibly faulty and is more than happy for me to try and update, if it doesn't work to send back for a refund. I paid 125 pound delivered and to be honest thought all the Chinese knock offs would be the same, should have known better.... Have downloaded the firmware link from gatos link but not sure how to get it onto the device?

To get it in to the device go to the car with the laptop and plug in the dice start the dice firmware update under dice in the program's menu
In there you select the device then press ... To browse for the firmware then click update |
