Question Buzzing from behind clocks (I think)?

Hi everyone

Just joined and will post a proper hello shortly but whilst I remember why I joined I thought I'd better pose my question.

I occasionally hear a buzzing or sort of motorised grinding from, what seems to be, behind the clocks. Anyone ever heard anything similar in their dash?

What is it? Is it something to be concerned by?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

No, the dash is mostly analogue apart from the strip across the bottom where the computer is for MPG, TRIP and TEMP etc.

What I mean is those needles are controlled by electronics rather than cables - there are no old school mechanical parts as such.

Hmmm....

Ok. I see!

It sounds like it's in front of me so maybe it's below that (relays perhaps?) or in front of that towards the engine bay?

Hello,
The odometer is controlled by a small plastic cog wheel which is known to fail on these models but haven't read any reports of a noise in the lead up to failure.
If it is on the road out, resetting your trip could exacerbate a failure.
Relays do also live in this region.
Afraid I can't offer anymore information at this stage, always hard to diagnose a noise fault on the Internet.
Welcome to the forums
Cheers

Do you get this noise when you use your indicators?

Salut!

One thing you could try is see if the noise is there whilst sitting stationary or whether it's only when the car is moving that the noise appears.
If it was the odometer it should only do it whilst the car was moving.
