Buying advice/general browsing
Hello all,
I come across this car on Autotrader (linked below). I haven't seen it in person. I have an S80 now, but mine is a euro 4 with 163bhp (2.4D). This one shown is a euro 5 with 163bhp, so its cheaper to tax (£135 per year cheaper) and slightly better on fuel. However, its 4 years newer, but has 20k more on the clock. I know the euro 5 engines don't have swirl flaps, which is a bonus. This appears to be a detuned euro 5 with a single turbo I assume (?), as I'm sure there were options with 205 or 215bhp with twin turbo's. It looks like a clean car, but would you take the punt on something like that? Its not really any different to what I have now, but its cheaper to tax, a bit better on fuel and a bit less long in the tooth. I've had a look through the MOT history, which looks pretty good. There was an advisory in 2021 for light missing of oil on the nearside rear shock. That hasn't been advised since, but don't some of these cars have Nivomat shocks in the rear, which is very expensive to replace? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-det...o=2024&fromsra
