I am totally stuck removing the sump plug. I've managed to round it off and now I don't know how to remove it, duh!

I went to see my mechanic, who laughed at me, and suggested I hit it with a chisel. I was too embarassed to ask how.

Any ideas how I can remove the sump plug?

Car is a 1994 855 T5 auto.
Thanks
Matt

If you were removing the sump plug to just drain out old oil, there is an alternative; a 12v electric lift pump narrow plastic tube down the dip-stick tube and container to receive old oil.

I also found myself in the same situation, Last garage that serviced my C70 must have had a gorilla with an extension bar tighten the plug.
I tried,

The Chisel
The mole grips,
The stielsons
The BIG Stelsons
and the Irwin removal tool.

But because the car was only on the low set of car ramps, I could not get the leverage to get the torque required to release it.

I eventually got it out using the Irwin socket Hammered on, with a High Torque 24v Impact driver. That undid it in a split second, making me wish I had tried that in the beginning ... lol

Just had this problem, in the end welded a big nut on the end and used a ring spanner. It came off then no problem. I feel the problem stems from an alloy sump (why?) and the steel plug corroding together.
