Default Power pulse pipe

My local Volvo dealer called me to ask me to make an appointment to bring my 2017 MY XC90 D5 in to get the power pulse pipe replaced. Must be the pipe some owners have reported problems with on this forum. I have not had a problem but taking it in on 1st Nov for the work, they are giving me a loan car so must be a several hour job.

Thanks, when was your car built? Mine was in early Feb '17.

Not sure if mine's impacted. No calls yet from dealer or Volvo.

Earlier this year I noticed that when my car was started and running at idle, I could here 'something' extra running, due to the location of the sound near the front offside I deduced it was probably the PP compressor. On opening the bonnet with the engine off, I could hear a hissing sound. It went into the garage and was diagnosed as a problem with the PP pipe. It was replaced and all good.

Then when my car went in for the cracked pan roof front panel to be replaced a couple of weeks ago, they told me they were going to do the PP pipe recall and EGR bracket recall while the car was in. I pointed out that the PP pipe was replaced earlier this year, but they said they would do it anyway. Perhaps an improved part is now available.

A day or two after the car came back, we noticed a high pitch hissing sound under moderate acceleration. After a few days, the hissing became more frequent, and you be heard quick clearly from outside of the car under a few revs. The car went back in, had a 'loose connection' diagnosed and resolved, and has been fine since.

I think it was built in May, I picked it up in June 2016.

I hope mine works okay after new PP PIPE has been fitted as I have had no issues so far. I think service manager said he had a few jobs and updates to carry out while its in. I already have Sensus 2 so must be normal software updates and maybe EGR bracket.

I've already checked that page and it says "No outstanding recalls". But not sure if the PP pipe issue has been classified as a recall.

Mine was done with the service and I did not receive any notification. Bracket and pipe. It is a big job.

It's not a recall. It's a 'Field Service something-or-other' (or the like). In other words, it's not urgent and can wait until the car is next in for a service.
