Default Volvo On Call 2nd Owner

Good Afternoon Guys,

Have just purchased a 66 plate XC90 R-Design D5 for my other half.

Bought it used with 9k on the clock from a non Volvo franchised dealer.

Spoke to my local dealer on the phone about transferring the VOC over to me and they said it would be £108.00.

Few questions,

Has anyone done this and is the cost comparable?

Is it worth spending the money?

If I don't do it will the previous owner still have access?

Third point is what I'm most worried about seems staggering to charge someone to stop a previous owner being able to access their car!!

Thanks for your help - and hello to all!!

That seams rather expensive to change over owners, its as though they are charging for the VOC again. The last owner should have ended his ownership of your car but its worth checking this with Volvo. VOC is in my mind worth having for the App features and the on call access in case of breakdown.

Change of ownership has to be done by a Volvo dealer and had you bought the car from a Volvo dealer it would probably have been done for you. Your dealer is charging for his time and I don't think you can argue with that unless you have a very strong relationship with them. You will get the remainder of the warranty period foc.
I would add it's well worth having and I would say essential, even better if you have Sensus.

I absolutely agree with paying for their time, although was a bit staggered at the time it would take. And also the huge security loophole that a used car buyer has to pay to close!

That being said...i called a volvo dealer in a neighbouring town.....and they said 'just bring it in takes no time at all we just go on the website', i enquired as to the need to book and cost, 'no just pop in and its FOC'.

Needless to say i'll be taking my car there for servicing etc!

I don’t think I’d be going back to that dealer! I also bought mine from a non franchise dealer, went to Mill Volvo Newcastle, they took my details and I received a text message the following day. It’s well worth having especially since the cold weather is on its way, you can remotely start the engine, warm the car, seats and defrost the windscreen without having to leave the house.

Well done. A good result. Pity you will have to travel for your servicing however.

Change of ownership yes but you can end your ownership and delete a car in VOC App settings.
