Default parts list

I work in manufacturing and often thought it would be really useful to have our own AML (approved manufacture list) system. Volvo PN to Mfrs PN (maybe even some deduced drawings/specs). Really useful for strandard things like seals, bearings, pipes etc. There is, what looks like, an ERP system on my Synology NAS but no idea how to get working, or if that would cover it. Maybe a simpler database package would do it, as I wouldn't try and put the BOM (bill of materials) as this is a complex model structure and already on Vida. PN list much easier.[/QUOTE]

That's a good idea. I'm surprised this hasn't already been done, so many 'classic' Volvo devotees.

Even supercars need MAFs and loads of other things!

Look at the Lotus cars from the 70s and 80s - a lot of them had raided the BL and Ford parts bins, Marina door handles on the Eclat/Excel models for example. Also TVR were well known for having a big finger in the Ford parts pie. Rolls-Royce cars from the same era used a lot of Jaguar parts, some obvious like the ash trays, others not so obvious.

A useful tip here is to find the OEM part number eg Bosch and go on their website, find the relevant section and then look for "Buyers Guide" - this usually gives a list of every other vehicle that uses the same part.
Some manufacturers dress the Buyers Guide up as something else like an Application List and others use the words Application List to describe the section where you find your vehicle and look up the part you need.
