Default Soot filter full message showing repeatedly

The soot filter full message is showing nearly every day on my 07 XC70 (old model, 150K miles).

It had been coming on up to three times a week and going onto reduced power until the regeneration cycle had cleared. I had it serviced two days ago and the mechanic out it through a forced regeneration. Driving it home, I accelerated and the soot filter full warning showed again.

I find if I turn the engine off, wait for a few minutes, the sign does not reappear on restarting, but will appear when I accelerate moderately quickly at higher speeds.

Tonight the sign came on when I was doing about fifty and touched the pedal to increase speed. I then drove the required 20 minutes at 2,500 revs on the motorway and the warning cleared. I stopped the car for a while and then drove it back on the motorway: in fifth gear, moving up to around 70 mph the warning came on again - this only minutes after I last cleared it.

Can someone advise if there is a solution to this: could this be a DPF sensor failure or is the DPF itself needing replaced. I can no longer trust the car to overtake on the motorway if I need extra power - it seems as soon as I press the pedal more than halfway the soot filter warning goes on and suddenly I'm on reduced power again. Please help!

Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Wouldn't VIDA tell you if the fault was a malfunctioning sensor in the DPF?

You need to look at the stored fault codes , this could well be the boost sensor on the intercooler outlet stub , had this problem recently . A lot going out of specification this year for some reason .
