Light switch module Identification
Hi All
I am new to the forum so hopefully I am posting this thread in the right place. Due to an incident at the local car wash the light switch module on my lovely 2005 V70 D5 ended up getting a good internal drowning, resulting in all lights taking on a mind of their own. The light switch is part number 8691751 and I placed an order with a ebay supplier advertising this item, due to a stock pick error they sent 9441233, they are in the process of sending the 8691751 item full of apologies. Having tried 9441233 I find everything light wise is back to normal. I have read a thread somewhere on this forum were a member asked was there any difference in these various switch numbers, but I never viewed a definitive answer. Could anybody please enlighten me please ? Thanks Dave |

Hi & welcome. No, wrong section unfortunately. This is where you need to be: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=19
However, as a former owner of three P2 models like yours, there are a couple of variations on the light switch, but the main difference is that if you have xenon headlamps that have automatic self levelling then the switch will not have the manual adjustment wheel. To be honest, if the replacement fits, works & is the same colour, then job done . Part numbers seem to change over the years due to tweaks in the design, or being made by a different supplier so don't get too hung up on it not being an exact match. Next time: close the window before going to the car wash |

Thanks
Hi Simon
Thank you for your reply, welcome and helpfull information. The hand car wash incident was a classic. One guy on the offside rear door area is working away, the windows are covered with soap. With my head down sorting cd's I hear a tap on the window so I lower my window and in comes a whole bucket of cold water. The first guy had been joined by a colleague working on the nearside and it was him tapping on the window wanting me to move forward half a wheel so he could finish the rims ! Thanks again Dave |
